Abstract:
The ‘oil‘ obtained from emu fat can be a very effective inhibitor of chronic inflammation in rats when applied dermally (with a skin penetration enhancer). Assays for this activity using the adjuvant-induced arthritis model have shown: i. Considerable variability in potency of some commercial oil samples; ii. Little or no correlation of activity with colour oremu-oil.gif linolenic acid (18:3) content of the oil; iii. Relative stability of some active oils (to heat, ageing at room temperature); iv. The bulk of the anti-inflammatory activity was present in a low triglyceride fraction; and v. Potential arthritis-suppressant/immunoregulant activity of these active fractions. These studies point to the need for more rigid quality control before considering such a (now proven) traditional medicine as a complementary therapy.Repeated applications of selected oils did not induce any of the more prominent side-effects associated with NSAIDs (e.g. platelet inhibition, gastrotoxicity) or certain anti-arthritic drugs (proteinuria, leukopenia).

I am an inventor, US Patent #5,431,606 and I would like an email address where I can attach a jpeg file to it where I can send you a 3D view of a prototype gear set. There is a person in Romeo, Michigan nearby me that sells EMU eggs and emu products. I know very little about EMU oil and deal in engineering mechnics. My background as an engineering is physics and I work the second law of physics: Force = Mass . Acceleration. I have managed to decrease mass and cost by making an epicyclic gear set from only a two gear set not the normal 8 to 12 gears found presently in a compund gear set. If you reduce the mass you will not need to do as much work to create outout. The two gears are mounted in series and this is a first for any gear set as gears have always been mounted in parallel. My website is: http://www.superiorgears.com and my blog is: superiorgear.blogspot.com I have a copy of the patent posted at the website and at the blog I have several different views of the prototype gear set as well as an engineering application as a fishing reel. I can develop this utility patent for almost engineering application as long as there is enough room to accomadate the gear set. The gear set creates more work and torque than gearing was able to output and develop previously. The two gears used in the gear set are a standard worm gear and a worm wheel. The input drive gear is a standard worm gear and the output drive gear is a worm wheel. The gear set conserves space as the input drive gear the standard worm gear is mounted below the surface of the OD of the worm wheel. Please take time to visit both the blog and website as this will be of mutual benefit to us. Thanks for receiving this email, reading it, and sending an email reply
